BRIDGESTONE ZWARTKOPS INTERNATIONAL KART RACEWAY SET TO STAGE THE BIGGEST KARTING EVENT IN SOUTH AFRICAN HISTORY

The weekend of 1 and 2 October 2005 will see South Africa’s top karters converge at Bridgestone Zwartkops International Kart Raceway, on the R55, Pretoria West.

Not only will the ENGEN Supakarts South African Championships be concluded on Saturday, 1 October 2005 but the prestigious South African ROTAX Max Challenge Series Final on Sunday, 2 October 2005 will decide who will represent South Africa at the World Finals in Malaysia.

Prizes to the value of more than R300 000.00 are at stake. ROTAX, their distributors and partners offer all expenses paid drives at the World Final in Langkawi, Malaysia in November 2005 to the winners in several classes. Brand new ROTAX engines, air tickets to Malaysia and other surprises await the successful competitors.

Practice for this event starts on Thursday, 30 September 2005. Time Trials on the Friday afternoon and a full days racing on Saturday will conclude the ENGEN Supakarts SA Championship.

Sunday, 2 October 2005 will see the pre-finals determining the starting positions for all important final. The finals in all six classes are “winner takes it all”. Will these winners keep up the proud South African tradition – 5 South Africans have won the World Finals in the past 5 years. Can we make it 6 in a row?

The ROTAX RED BULL driver search had to be concluded before this event because this was moved forward to 3 and 4 October 2005. Ricardo Raciti and Wesleigh Orr are making arrangements to do the SA ROTAX Max Challenge Final on Sunday and be in Estoril, Portugal on Monday, 3 October 2005 – now that’s dedication!

The ROTAX Max Challenge is a one make series that has seen a number of South African karters make their mark in international motor sport in the last 5 years.
