SA Racer ‘Rising Star’ Award – Durban girl wins unique SA Racer award

Sixteen-year old Durban schoolgirl Jamie-Lee Rossiter has won SA Racer magazine’s first ‘Rising Star’ award.

This prestigious, award was open to drivers aged 16 or under, who, in the eyes of a panel of karting personalities, impressed not only with on track performances, but also by the way they conducted themselves off the track during the course of the season.

Steve Wicks, editor of SA Racer pointed out that the prize, a season’s worth of PR in the form of press releases and marketing, is unique in that it could go a long way in furthering her career. “Hopefully, by this time next year, every motorsport enthusiast in the country will know exactly who Jamie-Lee Rossiter is.”

The winner was decided by a panel of karting personalities after the final round of the Engen SupaKart championship held at Zwartkops earlier this month.

“There is an abundance of young talent in this country, but how does a young driver bridge the gap from karting to ‘big track’ racing. This is the area where this award will help, concluded Wicks.
