Interesting developments in 2006 for ROTAX Max classes
The three international classes namely Junior Max, Max Challenge and ROTAX DD2 (RM1) will race on Mojo D1 tyres. The tyres are imported and distributed by Autoquip and will be available in mid January 2006. The pricing of Mojo and Bridgestone is the same and the tyres will be available from the usual suppliers. Other karting classes will continue to run Bridgestone YGK. Wet weather tyres remain with Maxxis as does GP Junior and Cadette.
Worldwide the ROTAX DD2 engine can now be raced on various makes of chassis and the class formally known as RM1 will be known as DD2. The RM1 will continue in this class as well with the other makes of chassis. It is envisaged that South Africa wil follow suit. In this case not only will the winner of the DD2 series but the top 32 year old join our reigning world champion and the winners of Junior Max and Max Challenge at the next world final.
The Max 175 class has a new minimum age of 32 years old or 28 years old if the driver has no previous racing experience.
Technical changes include an improved battery, alternative floats and pilot jets for the carburettor and a new exhaust tube for the DD2 engine.
