South African drivers fared well in the first qualifying races at the Rotax world Finals in Al Ain, UAE today.
Kyle Lawrence took an impressive second place in the DD2 event having spent the entire race in the top six.
Junior Max hopeful Caleb Williams claimed fifth in his heat but Andrew Gatland had all sorts of drama after a getting driven over and was down in 34th place in the other race while Zimbabwe’s Chris Bluett was 24th.
Another star drive came from David Perel who claimed an excellently driven third in his Senior Max qualifying race.
Both George dos Ramos and Gerard Peters were victims of mechanical woes and face a tough task in order to qualify.
