New Cylinders for ROTAX – The world’s favourite kart engines get even better
Once considered a hobby engine the ROTAX Max has become the benchmark in kart racing. The sealed engine one make formula took the world by storm ten years ago and continues to go from strength to strength. Reliability and consistency have been a foundation of the ROTAX Max series and the incredibly close competition demands even higher standards today.
Based on the feedback of the market on various issues regarding the cylinders ROTAX have planned changes on the cylinders for the engines Mini MAX, Junior MAX, Senior MAX and MAX DD2 in 2009.
In order to further improve the consistency of the cylinders the manufacturing process now includes CNC machining of the periphery of the exhaust port, top edge of the boost port and port chamfers. The cylinder remains a one piece alloy casting – no irregular steps between cylinder and cast iron liner – with super hard nikasil plating ensuring unrivalled reliability.
The new cylinders will perform as well as the current best cylinders on the market. New part numbers identify the cylinders. The casting date on the opposite side has no relevance to the technical specification.
