CAPE KARTERS DOMINATE AT KILLARNEY

Racing as close as it gets - Jono Aberdein & Umpie Swart lead the DD2s - Image Mark ZeemanGrey and misty Cape autumn weather greeted the cream of South Africa’s karting community for the second round of the SA National Karting Championships on Saturday, but as the conditions improved through the day, so did the temperature rise on track with brilliant racing across the board.

It was also a historic day for karting with the event being the first kart race ever to be live streamed on the Internet, while the day once again proved that Cape karters are enjoying a purple patch with local drivers taking sixteen wins from 24 races and overall honours in four of the eight classes.

Huge fields and nail-biting close racing  expected for Round One of the 2015 SARMC karting championship in Cape Town on April 25 2015 A huge field of some 30 karts is expected for the top-billing DD2 Gearbox class at the opening round of the 2015 SA Rotax Max Challenge karting championship at the Killarney circuit in Cape Town on Saturday, April 25.

The Rotax series is going from strength to strength in 2015, and all eyes will be on defending DD2 Champion Bradley Liebenberg from Lonehill, in Gauteng, to see if his dominance last season continues this season in the first of the four-round national championship that includes the top four classes in SA karting.

BRP’S 2015 ROTAX MAX CHALLENGE GRAND FINALS WILL BE HOSTED IN PORTUGAL

 The flags from all participating countries during the Grand Finals of karting. © BRP 2015 Gunskirchen, Austria, March 10, 2015 – BRP’s Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals (RMCGF), where each country’s best drivers race for the title, will occur at the International Karting Circuit of Portimão in Algarve, Portugal from November 8 to 14, 2015.

“The Portimão circuit is a great venue for the RMCGF, as it meets all requirements in terms of track surface and overall infrastructure,” said Peter Oelsinger, vice-president, Rotax Propulsion Systems at BRP. “Participants will race for the first time with the new MAX evo engine, which should tighten the field and make the races even more thrilling.”

Kelvin van der Linde is Bridgestone SA /SA Guild of Motoring Journalists Motor Sportsman of the Year – again

Kelvin van der LindeKelvin van der Linde, 18, the reigning Bridgestone SA / SAGMJ Motor Sportsman of the Year, has made it two in a row.

Van der Linde, who last year at age 17 became the youngest ever recipient of this prestigious award, has again been honoured this year, as the 2014 Bridgestone SA / SAGMJ Motor Sportsman of the Year.
