Eleven nominees for Bridgestone SA / SAGMJ “Motor Sportsman of the Year”
There are eleven nominations for the 2014 Bridgestone SA / SA Guild of Motoring Journalists “Motor Sportsman of the Year” award, which will be announced at a special function in Johannesburg on February 18. There are two nominees for the Colin Watling Award, which recognises significant contribution and achievement by a non-competitor in motor sport.
MSA Karting Commission President Joy Dolinscheck and her SAKRA team facilitated testing of the new products on Friday the 30th and Saturday the 31st of January 2015 at Killarney kart circuit in Cape Town. Three top drivers with top 2014 motors were used to compare Rotax EVO upgrades to existing (2014 motors) as individual upgrade items and as a complete 2015 new engine package.
After an importers meeting at MSA on Friday the 23rd of January things are back on track with EVO upgrades and MSA’s approval of the upgrade and immediate implementation still stands. The regulations in the 2015 MSA karting handbook are correct and the full technical rules can be viewed on www.kart.co.za or www.rotax-kart.com.

Its official – the 2015 Rotax EVO engines and upgrades are approved for racing in South Africa with immediate effect. An official communication from MSA is expected shortly but in the meantime herewith the important points.

As most of you will have seen there is some controversy surrounding the use of the 2015 EVO engines and upgrades in South Africa. We regret the confusion and assure you that we will continue to work with MSA to resolve this as quickly as possible. In the meantime perhaps a little background and explanation of how this works will help everyone understand our position.
Welcome to the 15th running of the South African Rotax Max Challenge. This series has qualified more than 100 drivers to participate in the RMCGF on 6 continents and in many different countries. The RMCGF is without question the most prestigious and competitive karting event in the world. Champions from more than 60 countries have to qualify for an invitation to participate – there is no other way, no wild cards or credit cards!
